What is a boiler Service?

We are often asked “what is a boiler service” by our customers. So here is a brief summary of what our Gas Safe Boiler Service Engineer will do.

When one of our Gas Safe (Corgi Registered) heating engineers attends your home or premises they perform a detailed list of checks to make sure your boiler is Safe, Economic and functioning correctly.

Our Gas Safe central heating engineers have many years experience and will service your boiler to standards set by the Gas Safe organisation and presecribed by the manufacturer of your boiler.

Some of the basic checks are outlined here:

Default boiler servicing procedure

Visual inspection of the boiler
Check if there are any known problems with the system
Check that the boiler has been installed in a suitable position
See if the boiler has been damaged in any way
Inspect the controls and the boiler safety devices
Check that the boiler flame burn is correct
Inspect electric wiring installation is correct and to regulations

Emergency plumbers in Bristol – Leaking pipes 1

Bristol Plumber Now has several roving Emergency Plumbers in Bristol. Leaking pipes are the most common reason for our plumbers to be called out. Usually the problem is wear and tear of components, a catastrophe such as a nail through a pipe event and sometimes its actually the customers’ fault.

Our plumber came across just such an occurrence last thursday when we were called to a flooded out basement flat. The owner of the flat had tried to install a washing machine cold water feed. Unfortunately they were not fully trained in using plastic barrier pipes, they had joined a standard copper 15mm pipe to a 2m length of plastic barrier pipe but had failed to tighten the collar on the plastic to copper joint. Result 3-days later a flooded out basement.

Happily our plumber was a local plumber and got to the problem quickly. He also did a spot of boiler servicing while he was there.

Bristol Plumbers are bracing themselves for the second cold spell of the winter. Plumbing emergencies were happening thick and fast during the first cold spell; the most common problem was burst pipes followed by failure of combi-condensing boilers.
